Ipsy July Unboxing: Hot Summer Nights
If I had to describe this month’s Ipsy merchandise as a whole, I’m leaning towards “swanky packaging.” Seriously, look at this stuff. It all came in such neat, subtle packaging that was a nice change from some of the loud products I’ve been getting recently. The bag itself I won’t keep because it’s not my style, but the samples inside reminded me of what I’d find at a fancy hotel.
First, I am so grateful for this frizz control gel by Briogeo. It’s monsoon season where I live, which means my hair is currently tripled in size from the humidity. (Thanks, Sicilian genes!) It also smells amazing. There is a very light floral scent, but it doesn’t smell perfumey at all—it smells clean.
This is the second eyeshadow I’ve gotten from theBalm Cosmetics, and I always like their products. I really like this color. Despite the dark color it goes on light, but after two or three applications it’s a nice plum color. If you’re not the type to keep your eye makeup subtle, I’d recommend wetting your brush before applying it to make it heavier.
I’ll admit I’ve never tried cooling lotion for my face before, but the smell of this lotion by skyn Iceland is a strong, pleasant minty scent that leaves my face feeling refreshed. It says it’s for stressed skin, which is perfect for me this month.
I love Too Faced products, so I was pretty excited to see this Hangover Replenishing face primer in my bag. There’s no scent to it (which is good considering the cooling lotion), and it goes on smoothly. It haves a very subtle shine to it, which will be awesome for lazy days when I don’t feel like applying highlighter.
Finally, I was so stoked to get an eyeliner this month. This is Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Lauren by Thrive Causemetics. I get eyeliners pretty regularly, but I’m an eyeliner collector and I’m always thrilled to try more. I usually prefer liquid, but this goes on so dark and because it’s waterproof, I’m willing to work it into my regular makeup bag. What I love most about this product, though, is what’s behind the product. Stated right on the box is their mission: “Beauty with a Purpose: For every product purchased, one is donated to a woman going through cancer treatment.” I had never heard of this company before receiving it in my bag, but I’ll definitely be checking them out from now on because of that.
That’s my bag for the month; let’s see what you got!
