Stories: The Path of Destinies at PAX Prime 2015
If you’re a fan of action role-playing games like “Bastion” or “Transistor,” then you’re going to want to put “Stories: The Path of Destinies” on your radar. From Spearhead Games Montreal comes a gorgeous isometric action role-playing game that features a fox named Reynardo, the last defense against the imperial armada threatening the realm.
The world seems heavily influenced by steampunk and fantasy, with airships, magic, and floating islands throughout. Like the previously mentioned games, the story is narrated as the player progresses.
One of the things that sets “Stories: The Path of Destinies” apart from others of its kind is the fact that the story isn’t linear. Frequently, the player is prompted to make decisions. Depending on the choices made, the story then diverges in real time. Each time a choice is made, the narrator adapts to reflect Reynardo’s actions.
Like Reynardo, characters encountered are in animal form and boast their own distinct personalities.
The game is currently being developed for PS4.
